Important Information
-
How long is your waitlist?Typically, our waitlist is about 3-6 months. Litters are planned and we contact interested parties immediately once our female is bred. FFBC accepts deposits once our female is confirmed in whelp (pregnant). We only accept as many deposits for that litter as our highly qualified and experienced Veterinarian can best determine how many puppies will be in that litter. We have many clients who wish to remain on our wait list for as long as it takes for us to have a puppy available for them.
-
When is your next litter? We typically only breed once a year. We keep our website up to date on this information which you can find on Our Puppies page.
-
How much are your dogs? Our puppies are currently $1200. The deposit amount is $200 with the remainder of $1000 due before the puppy may go to its new home. This cost includes a complete puppy care kit, a starter bag of food, informational packet and birth certificate, and other goodies. This also includes ABCA registration and a lifetime of support from Firefly Fields Border Collies!
-
Is my deposit refundable? Our minimum deposit amount to reserve your puppy is $200. That is not refundable. Once we reserve a puppy for you, that pup is no longer available to others. If you decide against going forward with the purchase of your puppy, we must raise, educate, and train that puppy until he/she is placed in another suitable home. You may make a larger deposit or make payments on your puppy until the pup is weaned and ready to go home. Any amount you have paid over $200 will be refunded if you cannot move forward.
-
Can you promise me a certain color puppy? No, we cannot. While we do specialize in the Merle pattern, for our dogs' health, we absolutely NEVER breed Merle to Merle. Therefore, we cannot gaurantee any puppies in the litter will be Merle simply because Merle is an incomplete dominant gene. This means that only one parent must be Merle for there to be Merle pups in the litter, but it is not a gaurantee that any puppies in the litter will be. We do take your preferences into account and we try to match you with the puppy that meets your criteria. However, we always place more emphasis on the puppy's temperament, rather than color, when helping you choose your partner.
-
Do I get to pick the puppy I want?Yes, from the puppies that are available. Firefly Fields reserves the right to keep "first pick" from any litter. The stud dog owner (if this is the arrangement that has been made with them) then has the right to the "second pick" of the litter. We then go down our waitlist in the order in which a deposit was received. We do consider your wishes when you make your deposits: if you want a male or female or a certain color (never gauranteed).
-
Can I come see your dogs?Yes! Our dogs LOVE to welcome visitors BY INVITATION AND APPOINTMENT. We require appointments because we are a working horse farm and sometimes out in the fields or arenas working our horses. We are also cautious when we have puppies younger than 8 weeks old as their immunities are not yet fully developed. But please do feel free to contact us and make an appointment to visit!
